Sustainability

It is our ambition to become the world’s most sustainable bakery. We strongly believe that we must preserve our planet for future generations and act accordingly.

We produce pure, artisanal bake off bread of excellent quality by applying traditional production principles in our state-of-the-art production facilities. We want to be a frontrunner in delivering sustainably produced bread of the highest quality to our clients and consumers. Organic bread is both an important part of our assortment and proven to be better for our planet. We want to make our conventional and organic bake off bread available for everybody, every day.

Our core values

Company – Sustainable Management

  • Modern and efficient production
  • Optimization of the processes in all areas, because efficiency and sustainability go hand in hand. For example we aim to deliver full pallets on full trucks only.
  • Together with Bio Breadness, we started our cross-company ‘Sustainability Project’ in 2020 and we’ve calculated our CO2 footprint as a first step. In the next steps we are working on reducing this every year.

Planet – Production with respect our our planet

  • Organic farming is proven to be better for our planet.
  • Both our bakeries are certified according to EU-Bio. Our organic bakery in Fulda is also certified according to Bioland, Demeter and Naturland.
  • In Fulda, Bio Breadness has an energy management system certified according to DIN EN ISO 50001 in order to improve our energy-related performance.

People – An engaging workplace for our employees

  • We aim for fair & long term partnerships with our suppliers and customers. Right from the start we sourced our main raw material, flour, from our German partner mill in Bamberg.
  • In addition to appropriate compensation and a modern workplace, we offer our employees fresh bread rolls every day for breaks and fruit every week.
  • A part of our assortment is of organic quality, which means that no chemical pesticides are used in the cultivation of the raw materials.
  • We work with a long dough process, which means that our baked goods are particularly digestible and well tolerated.
